Two pictures of Riverside Golf Course - just to give you a TINY idea of what's going on around here these days... Absolute insanity. I have been sandbagging for 2 days straight (mostly around Ebenezer Flats) and there's no end in sight. We had more than 200 volunteers in one spot today, and I imagine that's the story in many other spots as well. Forecast calls for heavy rain, and rising temperatures. And the latest rumour is that the power could be going out anytime, for up to 2 weeks. (emphasize on RUMOUR. keep your fingers crossed for us!). We're all getting very exhausted though. And a little discouraged. Bed time for me! | | |
| Reading Chandra's "kids say the cutest things" post inspired me to share this little story... One of my sunday school students has a VERY seriously short attention span... He's a sweet little boy at times, but a little terror 98% of the time... I'm well aware of the fact that he does not listen very well to the lessons, but am generally okay with that fact as long as he's not distracting ALL of the other kids... Anyways, today's lesson was about Levi the "TAX collector". Upon completion of the lesson, I ask each child an individual question about the lesson, before allowing them out of the classroom. When this little guy's turn came, I asked him "Alright bud, can you tell me what Levi did for a job?". To my surprise, he very seriously considered the question and then his face lit up, and he was genuinely convinced that he had the correct answer when he shouted out "TAXi driver!!!" Wow it took me a while to wipe the smile off of my face :) Too tell you the truth, I was proud of him :) At least he was ALMOST listening, right? :)
